Lawsuit alleges roofing company scammed homeowners out of $500,000

Attorney General Ken Paxton recently announced a lawsuit against Rubinsky Roofing LLC, Dallas, saying the company allegedly targeted North Texas consumers with aggressive sales tactics and deceptive business practices, leaving numerous homeowners with unfinished roofing projects after collecting thousands of dollars in payments, according to KERA News.

A Dallas Morning News investigation report, which was submitted in the lawsuit, detailed allegations from homeowners who said they lost a combined estimated $500,000 through roofing projects Rubinsky Roofing did not complete.

The lawsuit states homeowners reported “a repeated pattern of aggressive sales tactics, pressure to sign contracts, upfront payment demands, ever-changing excuses for work delays, and work that is never completed.”

The lawsuit also accuses Rubinsky Roofing of misleading homeowners about the need for roof repairs, concealing fees and using harassment tactics to pressure customers into contracts. State investigators say complaints indicate a pattern affecting numerous Texans, including elderly homeowners.

The Attorney General's Office is seeking temporary and permanent injunctions to stop Rubinsky Roofing from continuing its business practices, as well as restitution for consumers and civil penalties under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
